Inspired by the colorful and vibrant culture of San Antonio, a family of three bake Spurs and Fiesta themed cookies and cakes for their new online bakery.
Capcakes co-founder Daniel Barrera said he and his wife Lilia Madrigal, brother Alejandro Madrigal and decided to launch the bakery in January after discussing the possibility for months.
Capcakes features recipes passed down through generations in his wife’s family, Barrera said. Whether it’s a sugar cookie with the face of the Spurs coyote or a candy bar with a Topo Chico design, the trio tries to base their candies on things that represent puro San Antonio.

The three founders have been in San Antonio for more than 12 years, which made it easy for them to understand what the city values, Barrera said, adding that they already had orders for Fiesta.
Although they work in their kitchen, Barrera said they hope to expand to a brick-and-mortar space in the future.
For now, customers can order from Capcakes through its website at capcakesusa.com. Half a dozen cookies start at $28 and a dozen sell for $42. Prices vary for custom cookies and cakes.
