For the first time in eight years, McDonald’s is adding a new line of baked goods to its main menu: an apple donut, a blueberry muffin and a cinnamon roll.
The three new menu items join the baked apple pie and chocolate chip cookie on the McCafe menu, which also includes an assortment of hot and cold coffee drinks. The last bakery product added to McDonald’s main menu was the introduction of cookies in 2012.
Like all McCafe Bakery items, all three new baked goods will be available throughout the day at participating McDonald’s stores nationwide starting October 28.
While baked goods aren’t part of the main breakfast menu, McDonald’s said the “new additions give fans the option of a sweet treat” to have for breakfast or any time of the day. .
“We are continuing our breakfast innovation by adding tasty new sweet options with our new McCafé Bakery line,” said Linda VanGosen, vice president of brand and menu strategy at McDonald’s USA, in a statement. “We know our customers deserve a break more than ever before and we’re excited to give them yet another reason to visit their favorite breakfast destination by giving them the delicious flavors they crave, any time of the day. “
Giving fans an all-day breakfast treat comes like the The all day breakfast menu has been missing for months. The Chicago-based fast service chain halted the platform and removed other menu items early in the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce complexities when moving to offsite services. Breakfast all day is on a break. Other items removed in April have since returned, including the Chocolate chip cookie.
Here’s how the brand described the three new baked goods. McDonald’s did not provide a price, saying prices vary by region.
–Apple fritters: a cinnamon and apple donut. It is fried and drizzled with frozen icing.
–Blueberry muffin: a soft muffin baked with blueberries and topped with streusel breadcrumbs.
–Cinnamon brioche: a puff pastry and butter covered with cinnamon and drizzled with a cream cheese frosting.
